Online workshops will be run directly from the Global Words website, and will include workshops on character, structure, self-editing and genre styling.

Locations vary, so please check the designated site!

Global Wordsmiths project: AGE UK, Nottingham. Mondays, 1:00-3:00pm Beginning April 6th.

The forthcoming project with AGE UK is sure to be wonderful, interesting, and inspiring as we hear from people over 50 and get their stories in writing. Once this six week course is over, we’ll be publishing those stories in an anthology, and launching it at Waterstones (date TBD, but likely in July).

Workshop:

Now What? Self-Editing Your Prose. Mondays, 6:30-8:30pm May 9th-June 13th, 2016. Nottingham Writer’s Studio.

You’ve done it. You’ve finished that piece of writing you’ve been sweating over. But is it any good? Is it well written? Does it make sense? Is every plot point and character growth moment where it needs to be?

In this workshop we’ll go through the nuts and bolts of self-editing, from spotting plot gaps to determining if your characters are static or dynamic. We’ll begin with a wide angle view of structure and character and narrow our focus down to line level work by the sixth week. This workshop will give you some distance to see your work clearly, and will allow you to begin the next step in the process before you begin sending it out into the world.

Have you had an interest in erotica writing for a long time? Or has the Fifty Shades phenonmon wet your whistle? Either way, this one day Masterclass will discuss the specifics of good erotica writing, and allow you to try your hand at various techniques in a safe, supportive and controlled environment (see, all words used in erotica writing!). You’ll leave the workshop with some of your own writing to work on, the mechanics of writing erotica, and an idea of where to submit your work once you’ve got pieces ready to send into the world.
