Stories are part of who we are. And they’re as individual as the shells on a beach or the flakes of snow that fall through night skies. That’s what you’ll find in this book. Stories from new authors who are just dipping their toes into the land of fiction, and stories from authors who live half their lives already in the land of Word. The emotional range in this anthology varies from light-hearted fun, to horror, to the grief of feeling so lost you don’t know where to turn. Fantasy, reality, romance…you’ll find a little of everything in these pages, and maybe you’ll find authors you can’t wait to follow, as well as authors who speak to the deeper parts of you.
Everyone has a story to tell; we hope you recognize your own story somewhere in these pages, and that you reach out to connect with the authors as well. After all, isn’t connection what makes for a great story?
What’s the point?
The point is to share people’s writing gifts with the world.
We put this anthology together because we know a variety of things about writing: we know how hard it can be to get published, whether the piece is short or long. We know how hard it can be to find queer stories that resonate. We know how powerful it is to see your words in print and know they’re out there, being ingested by readers everywhere. We know how important queer stories and writers are, and we want everyone else to know it too. We know how integral it is to our mental health to know we aren’t alone. We know not everyone can afford to buy the stories that show them they aren’t alone in the world. We know how amazing it feels to have someone say, “your work is awesome. Let’s publish it.” And so, this anthology of stories by authors you may know and authors you may not know…yet. We do this for free because we believe in the power of stories to change the world.
