A Renewal of Faith by Valden Bush

I work alone at a desk and I’m not a great socialite. Like many, I struggle in gatherings of a lot of people. At the same time, I feel to be a successful writer I need to get out into the world, meet people and have experiences that I can write about. I need to see and hear things that will challenge my thinking, that will push my mind and throw ideas into the melting pot that is my brain. It’s only by doing this that I can come up with ideas to write about. That I can ask the ‘what if?’ questions that feed into my work.

How can something like QTS be good in giving me story ideas? I’m not going to get my thoughts challenged in a public library with a hundred people. You’d be wrong.

The journey there and back will be full of adrenaline, my senses will be alive in anticipation of what is to come. Once there, I get to see old friends, both authors and readers alike and get the chance to explore new friendships. It warms my soul and renews my faith in the writing process. The event encourages discussions and thoughts, saying out loud things you haven’t considered, and is FUN. (I said that although I must take a break from it now and then!). On the way home, I’ll still be full of the adrenaline, bit will be worn out and when I sit at my desk again, I’ll be re-energised and full of the day I spent with friends.

I think the best thing about QTS is that I might meet someone that’s read and enjoyed my books and made the whole writing process worthwhile. If that’s you I look forward to meeting you.
