Next week we’ll be setting off for the first writing retreat of the year, and we couldn’t be more excited.
This is a new one for us. We’ve named it Build It, because we’re working with writers on what they want to learn. They’ve let us know the things they’re struggling with, and we’ve built the daily sessions around them so they get exactly what they need during the week away.
Plus, the house looks AMAZING, and with it’s big open plan set-up everyone can write in the room together, if they want to, or even out on the deck if the weather is kind to us. We’ll have our usual movie night, as well as a night out at a local pub for dinner.
These writing retreats fill a special place in our business. They’re weeks people really look forward to. The sense of community, the desire to lift each other up, the ability to focus on your creativity without interruption…it’s all so fantastic. We love sitting with writers every day to talk craft and all aspects of publishing, and to have great talks about all kinds of other stuff, too.
Plus, we love feeding people, and we get to put out all kinds of good food every day.
Have you ever been on a writing retreat? If you have, tell us about it in the comments! And if you haven’t, what’s keeping you from trying one?
